Review on Money Not Enuff 2

The start of movie ushers in the familar Singapore national iconic songs such as Count on me Singapore, but sang in hokkien version - Simply hilarious, yet refreshing.  The story runs on 3 brothers and their aged mother, who was a doting and giving mother.  Whenever the brothers faced hardships, they seeked the help of their mother for financial assistance.  First son, Ah Hui, portrayed by Cheng Xu Hui, aka Alamak, is a honest and hardworking aspiring 55-year-old slow low incomer who aspires to be a manager one day.  In times of hardships, his wife and 3 daughters stood by him.  The third son, Ah Huang, portrayed by Mark Lee, is a high flyer MLM salesman, whom too, have a very loyal wife, who stood by him in times of crisis.  After recommending Ah Hui into the MLM business, he manage to achieve minimal success and was upgraded from a motorbike owner to a car owner.  Alas, the happy days were shortened when the MLM product was misrepresented and found to be unfit for human consumption.  That spells the end of their money spinning dreams, hence business failure.  Ah Huang’s wife was sentenced to a jail term of one year after embezzling her company’s funds, in order to bail him out of his debts.   Concurrently, the second son, Ah Keong portrayed by Jack Neo, was an ambitious high-risk property agent who did nothing but buy and sell houses, usually on credits terms.  His lawyer ran away with his money, forcing him to be downgraded from bungalow to a 4 room HDB flat.  His wife was a calculative and selfish woman who only thinks for themselves.  When the mother was in poor health, the three sons took turns to take care of her.  Ah Keong’s wife stopped him from contributing for the mother’s maid expenses, for fear of further commitment.  When their mother’s health detoriates as a result of old age, it posed a burden to the 3 families.  Out of last resort, they sent the mother to old folks home, which was really a very sad scene.  The mother cried and shouted for Ah Hui, when she saw him turning on his back and leaving.  She collapsed in sadness after that and was hospitalised.  The medical bills of private hospital proves a heavy burden for the 3 brothers.  Ah Keong’s daughter met with an accident and was admitted to the same private hospital.  Due to shortage of blood supply (rare blood type O-), there is only enough blood supply to save one life, which is either the mother, or Ah Keong’s daughter.  The subconsious mother, on hearing the commotion amongst the 3 brothers, pulled out the tubes from her nose and the BP machine came still to a flat liner.  Gone, she has given up her life to save her grand daughter.  It is such a sad scene.  Before she died, she still go and buy 4D, which strikes 1st prize and it paid for the medical bills.  Life was back to normal after the mother’s death.  Ah Hui went to work as a cleaner in hawker centre and Ah Huang was reunited with his wife after one year.  They went into partnership in business and was successful before the end of episode.  I was happy to see a happy ending after that.  I am just thinking, although the mother’s demise was a highlight of the show.  If only Ah Keong had agreed to pay for the maid’s expenses, the mother would not be sent to old folks home and thus the daughter may be saved after the accident without the mother’s sacrifice.  The can still struck the 4D as well.  Sign.. if the script were to be so smoothly created, there won’t be any waves in the sea.

It is a show worth watching as it highlights the importance of kinship.  In times of difficulties, it is vital to have the support of your loved ones.  The poorest person may not be poor monetarily.  It would be indeed poor if you have no loved ones to stand by your side in times of crisis.  Also, be contented with what you have in Singapore, don’t always complain about the government.  Really, although Singapore is a pay & pay country, it still have its merits.  I would give credits to the creativity of ERP animation.  lol..=)

My mum was quite upset during the show.  Think she used up to 3 pieces of tissue paper.  I also feel quite sad during the show.  But I did not cry.  Just was reminded about annie’s case on the hefty medical bills.  Simply too heavy to be bore amongst the siblings.  Health is still wealth.  It is a blessing that our parents are still healthy.  I was abit worried after watching the show in fact.  I hope life in my family will be peaceful and happy.
